Warming up for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Usually your typical Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class and for that matter, most martial art and wrestling programs, warm up to start the class or practice. Getting the blood flowing in your body is the first thing to do. A light jog for about 5 or 6 minutes or maybe some burpees. A combination of jumping jacks, push ups and sit-ups with a couple of bjj specific movements added in is also a common warm up routine. Then after your warmed up, it’s a good time to do some stretching which usually includes the neck, shoulders, back, hamstrings, quads, ankles, wrists, and anything else you can stretch out a little. You never know what position your going to end up in when rolling, so all parts of your body should be woken-up and stretched.
